Research

The MERIC research program is under the direction of
John J. Elias, Ph.D. The goal of the research program is to help clinicians improve the treatment methods prescribed for their patients.  Physicians specializing in orthopedic surgery and pain management work with MERIC researchers to develop the basic science and clinical follow up studies performed in the laboratory.

     The
laboratory is equipped with mechanical testing equipment and computational facilities, which are used for musculoskeletal biomechanics research.  MERIC researchers collaborate with clinicians from Premier Orthopedics, Pain Care Specialists, HealthSouth Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Centera, and HealthSouth Premier Diagnostic Center for the clinical research studies.  All of these medical practices are located within the Premier Health Plaza, and all of the studies involving human patients are approved by the MERIC Institutional Review Board.

MERICencourages the participation of students in the research program and encourages collaboration with clinicians from all specialties throughout the Front Range.  The links to the left provide additional information on MERIC. Anyone who would like more information about the research program is encouraged to contact Dr. Elias.
